Georgetown, Kentucky is a small city located in Scott County, Kentucky. With a population of around 35,000 it is the 7th largest city in Kentucky. Originally when founded it was known as Lebanon, and then renamed after George Washington in 1790. The city's growth largely accelerated when Toyota built its first U.S.-based manufacturing plant in the city in the mid 1980.
Georgetown is a historic small city, with over 200 buildings on the National Register for Historic Places the downtown holds to its roots and timeless gems. Visitors to Georgetown will recognize the classic southern hospitality that Kentucky is known for. Also Georgetown is possibly home to the birthplace of bourbon whiskey, Elijah Craig is said to have distilled the first batch of Kentucky bourbon in 1789 using Georgetown's Royal Spring.
